For older Vodafone customers who have previously activated visual voicemail, login can be accessed using the existing voicemail pin. New customers, however, must retrieve an automatically generated visual voicemail password sent via a silent SMS. This message can only be intercepted through the Xposed framework, due to limitations within the Android framework that prevent non-system applications from receiving type 0 SMS messages. In cases where users encounter a "username or password incorrect" error, advanced users can utilize the Xposed framework method for account setup.

Visual Voicemail for Android connects seamlessly to standard IMAP-based visual voicemail servers, a practice widely recognized through iPhone usage, and supported by various global carriers.

If your carrier does not appear on this list but offers visual voicemail services, it may be beneficial to inquire about their voicemail server settings for manual configuration. Users of the Xposed framework can also employ the provided module to automatically discover their voicemail settings. Feedback is appreciated regarding successful connections with other carriers, as it helps expand the support list.

For Users with the Xposed Framework Installed:

The Visual Voicemail application includes an Xposed framework module designed to receive VVM SMS messages from the service provider. These messages are silent type 0 SMS, which standard Android applications cannot access. Activating this module unlocks several enhanced features:

• Automatic account setup and settings updates.
• Push notifications for new voice messages.
• A method for users receiving login failure messages to identify their voicemail password, which may differ from their voicemail pin.
• An option to identify settings for alternative providers.

Instructions for Xposed Framework Setup:

1. Update Visual Voicemail, enable the Xposed module, and reboot your device to apply changes; ensure all accounts are removed from Visual Voicemail first.
2. Launch Visual Voicemail and navigate to the account addition screen for username and password; select the activate visual voicemail button (or dial 1217 from the phone application).
3. A dialog should display with received voicemail settings upon call completion (selecting 1217 will trigger a notification leading to the dialog).
4. Click OK to configure the account using the presented settings.
5. Once account setup is finalized, adjust the auto-check method in account settings to fetch only; the Xposed module will manage new voicemail notifications and prompt when updated settings are detected.
